In its originally used form Peer to Peer learning means that students of the same course or degree learn from each other by mutual communication and working in groups. In many internationally well-known universities (such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology & Harvard) Peer to Peer approach has been used in teaching languages, Mathematics and Physics.
In Laurea Peer to Peer as an educational method has been applied to
the Business Management programme. In this particular Peer to
Peer model the term “peer” has been extended to teachers' and
companies' specialists.
The masterminds behind the P2P-programme believe that Peer to Peer learning helps to create an efficient learning environment where members learn to make the right decisions together and in which teachers only act as mentors or tutors for the students. In P2P a developing project is built on principle of collaboration, i.e. students, teachers and working life experts work together in a project environment. The learning progresses within the projects progresses. The starting point is a development project that is genuinely rooted in the world of work and connected to research.
